THIS ISN"T NOT-NOT PEACH or isn't? THIS!
House Democrats impeached Trump with 2 Articles, abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. And although it is very unlikely the Senate will remove Trump from office as Mitch McConnell has already made clear they will act in the White House's best interests, this is still a significant act by Congress.
The goal of this administration (and the Republican party in general) is to confuse the public about the merit of the impeachment process and the facts. If you've been listening to the House debates or the news spin, it's easily confusing. However just keep one thing in mind: US foreign policy goes through the State Department not personally lawyers, Rudy Giuliani is to Ukraine as Michael Cohen was to Stormy Daniels.

Hong Kong has been in a state of civil un-rest over the pass five months. As what started out as a protest against a proposed law allowing extradition of Hong Kong citizens to mainland China, and other places, turned into an all out battle for freedoms and democracy. HK is in the middle of a fifty year transition from British colonial rule to Chinese governance and therefore is currently under a two system one country agreement. HK enjoys a few freedoms which the mainland doesn't and it would seem some people would like to keep or expand upon once the transition period is over.
The protesters have been disruptive blocking traffic hubs, marching, etc. and the government has used tear gas, live ammunition rounds, and band masks and black clothing in response to break up protesters efforts. As each side digs in violence has increased. HK is joins a long line of people and cultures determined to live free and equal lives which can only be achieve through social dissidence. The outcome for HK is uncertain and those in power, economically and socially, want nothing more them to keep the status quo in place (especially the Winnie the Pooh president for life, may he retire tomorrow or die a sudden death soon for the betterment of all people, everywhere). The consolidation of money and power is never good for "the people" except for those in power.

This is a very special apron. It was worn by my wife @osha7 during our quilt making event @redlinedenver #24hourblockparty
On August 10, 2019
This was the first time we did an event of this nature and I can't tell you how over the moon I was to be a part of of it. The opportunity to create art in community is a thrill akin to stage preforming or skydiving.
Special thanks to @wabisabimud for the buttons used on the pockets of this apron.
I love that this apron was used. I love that it has coffee & paint on it. I love my wife for being with me, at my side when doing amazing things.

July 2019
For July's apron I decided to break a rule "never use the same materials twice"... however I did so only to be able to reuse the wonderful material I paid for in June and I also was experimenting for my booth project at Redline, a community quilt. For the community quilt I needed to understand how fabric markers worked on different kinds of fabric and colors. As you can see in this month apron some colors and textures work better then others. Today is August 14th and the Redline 24 Hour Block Party took place on the 10th. I will have August's apron post here shortly with more details, please visit Redlines Instagram and website to learn more about them and the event.
I did were this apron during the event, go to my Instagram to see a few pictures of the event and community quilt project.

Equality. This month I choose to create a flag in the form of an apron. The influence of the Pride Flag is obvious however my intention is not to divide people as based on race or choice but to call to all people to one banner. hate is to hate. love is to love. control is the illusion as true freedom is illusive because it can only obtained by letting go.
In the back of my mind.

May 2019
This month’s apron is particularly special. I made it in September 2018 for the Colorado Business Community for the Arts 2018-19 Leadership Arts Program.
The apron was designed to meet my needs for the class; to hold my notebook, pen and breath mints and to illustrate the meaning of the Apron Artist Project in some small way. I wore this apron to every session and the happy hours afterwards. At first I was nervous and felt self conscious about wearing it, I was stepping out of my comfort zone in an unfamiliar environment. In time, thanks to the wonderful people attending the class I came to feel at home in the apron, it worked as an ice breaker and conversation piece for who I was and what I was doing.
My goal for this participating in this program was twofold. First, to learn as much as I could from the speaker’s about non-profit board governance and second to discover pathways to progress the Apron Artist Project goals and mission. On the front side, I learned more about board governance then I thought possible, each month the speaker’s (whom I wish I could give credit to here and now but there are too many to name) each give their knowledge, experiences and expertise freely, it was beyond exceptional, many made themselves available after class or by appointment to answer questions. And on the back side, I’ve been encouraged to pursue the goals of the Apron Artist Project from a wide arrange of people, including classmates, speakers, venue executives and their staff.
May’s apron as you see it now tells this story in it’s own way. On the last day of the class during the board fair and graduation I asked everyone to sign the apron in the spirit of a yearbook. I enjoyed this program so much I spent part of May in a semi-state of depression wondering what to do next, (keep moving forward the apron whispers). I’m forever grateful for everyone involved with the CBCA’s Leadership Arts program. And a special thanks to MS, MB, EB, KK, GM, AR, LP, MS, AW & OG!!!

April 2019
The apron project is a journey. It has no limits to subject matter and at the end of the day this project is my subjective truth. It is for me, and by my own choice what is manifested at the end of each month. How I interpret the world. The truth from my humble position in the world.
This months apron is deeply personal, as it relates to God, religion and my fundamental believe or tao.
I was raised Catholic in a small New Hampshire town, mostly due to my mother's devotion. My father went to a different church which I attended on a few rare occasions, so little in fact I couldn't actually tell you what church it was or which dogmatic practice was being followed. In my childhood I would have to list the teachings of the Boy Scouts just as influential as my parents religious practice when defining the moral influence of my childhood.
Each of these institution vows shaped my adult spiritual growth and propelled my quest for a understanding of my own spiritual path or place. Along the way from then until now I've been free to allow myself to explore or judge religion as it suits me. I believe everyone is entitled to believe as they wish so long as that entitlement doesn't extend beyond personal boundaries. One should keep spiritual views to themselves unless directly asked. If you're reading this, it's the same as asking me my thoughts on the subject as it's your choice to read this or not. I am in no way trying to convert you. (I doubt most can even understand what my spiritually actually encompasses or what it means)
Since moving to Denver, I was recently introduced to the International Church of Cannabis. This institution, while seeming ridiculous in the context of weed as a party drug, has actually many of the qualities I've been practicing for years.
First, this church has no formal dogma. I relate to the idea that spiritual freedom is also free from rules of spiritual practice.
Second, this church has no formal hierarchy. Power corrupts and anyone in a position of higher standing to others will always take advantage.
Third, this church doesn't pray. They believe in doing good deeds like volunteering or sharing with others over prayers, I agree action are better then words.
Fourth, this church believes in treating others how you wish to be treated. I agree we treat others as we wish to be treated.
Fifth, this church believes the use of Cannabis opens creative pathways. I've used Cannabis throughout the process of the Apron Artist Project and I believe Cannabis has had positive effects in my work.
Last, this church believes the use of Cannabis can bring together a community of good like minded people to support and share with one another.
I attended the high holiday of 420. Elevationist celebrated their beliefs with a few positive words and good news about the church & it's mission. Honored two of their members. Welcomed everyone to use the ritual candle and partake in a five ounce joint while meeting other members before a one hour Lazer light show that drifted between enlightening meditation tracks and classic rock songs.
It was my experience that this was very much an experiment in spiritual. As a new Church of only two years with very little ritual structure it only makes sense that those creating the space and activities are experimenting. As this was my first time attending I cannot judge if the participants and event align with the mission. I do believe that this is in fact a church. It welcome all and ask it's members to obtain a higher self through selflessness and creativity.
Would I call myself an elevationist? Perhaps. I don't need to change anything about myself in order to do so as I believe my personal behavior is inline with the mission of the church. My only hesitation is I have not attended their services often enough to claim that title at this time. If I had to label myself I'm a spiritual traveler, on my own journey, judging for myself the path my soul will take.
p.s. in the pocket there are a few items I used during the 420 festivities :)

Rep. Paul Gosar taunted the testimony of Former Trump attorney Michael Cohen with a play ground slogan of "Liar Liar pants on fire" in the United States Congressional Chamber.
This is how our government should behave?
Cohen the same guy that covered up Trump's affairs called Gosar out on this point. (I highly recommend if you haven't seen the testimony to give it a review, I would give you the text here however it's long.)
It's not acceptable.
Next, The Mueller report is out and finds no collusion on Trump's activities during the 2016 Presidential Elections. Okay, fine. If Trump can't be connected with a smoking gun in this case, it's still not okay for him to obstruct the process. An even if a case for obstruction can not be made, I'm still not ok with the fact that many of his campaign advisors & staff are begin found guilty for a verity of Federal crimes.
If foreign power and influence is unchecked and allowed to disrupt our democracy then the American way of life is over.

Below is the full text announcement of The US - Mexico Board Emergency by Donald Trump. Compare this announcement to others in the coming years and decades to get a understanding of what exactly we are currently dealing with. The apron is made of ties, a flat screen, leather and a tennis ball. I view this as nothing more then a con to please his base, a campaign promise that he couldn't up-hold in any other way, taking money away from military housing projects and other worthy programs. He tried shutting down the government but his ego got in the way last month. If you really want to know what a board emergency looks like just web search Venezuela at this time in history.

President Donald Trump speaks during an event in the Rose Garden at the White House to declare a national emergency.
President Donald Trump announced Friday morning that he’s declaring a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border and will be reprogramming billions in federal funds to build a wall.
Below, the full text of his remarks from the White House Rose Garden before he took questions from reporters.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you very much, everybody.
Before we begin, I would like to say that we have a large team of very talented people in China. We have had a negotiation going on for about two days. It’s going extremely well—who knows what that means because it only matters if we get it done, but we are very much working very closely with China and President Xi who I respect a lot, very good relationship that we have. And we are a lot closer than we ever were in this country with having a real trade deal.
We are covering everything, all of the points that people have been talking about for years that said couldn’t be done, whether it was theft or anything, anything, the unfairness. We have been losing, on average, $375 billion a year with China. A lot of people think it is $506 billion. Some people think it is much more than that. We’re gonna be leveling the playing field. The tariffs are hurting China very badly. They don’t want them and frankly if we can make the deal, it would be my honor to remove them. But otherwise, we are having very many billions of dollars pouring into our Treasury; we have never had that before with China. It has been very much of a one-way street. So that’s happening. And the relationship with China is very good, but I think they finally respect our country. They haven’t respected us for a long time, not for a long time.
The U.K. and the U.S., as you probably have been seeing and hearing, we are agreeing to go forward and preserve our trade agreement. You know all of the situation with respect to Brexit and the complexity and the problems. But we have a very good trading relationship with U.K. and that has just been strengthened further. So with the U.K., we are continuing our trade. And we are going to actually be increasing it very substantially as time goes by. We expect that the U.K. will be very, very substantially increased as it relates to trade with the United States—the relationship there also is very good.
We have a lot of great announcements having to do with Syria and our success with the eradication of the caliphate, and that’ll be announced over the next 24 hours, and many other things. A lot of positive things are going on. We’re working on a summit, and you know all about the summit. It’ll be in Vietnam. Hanoi. And we will be meeting in Hanoi. I think a lot of you will be going, I suspect, and I hope we have the same good luck as we had in the first summit.
A lot was done in the first summit. No more rockets going up, no more missiles going up. No more testing of nuclear. Take back our remains, the remains of our great heroes from the Korean War. And we got back our hostages. But we hope we will be very much equally as successful. I’m in no rush for speed. We just don’t want testing. The sanctions, as you know, remain. Everything is remaining. China has been helping us and Russia has been helping us, and South Korea I think you can say has been—we have been working very closely with South Korea, with Japan, but China, Russia on the border have really been at least partially living up to what they’re supposed to be doing, and that’s okay, as per the United Nations.
So we will have a meeting on the 27th and 28th of February, and I think that will be a very successful, and I look forward to seeing Chairman Kim. We have also established a very good relationship which has never happened between him or his family and the United States. They have really taken advantage of the United States, billions of dollars has been paid to them, and we won’t let that happen. But we think that North Korea and Chairman Kim have a tremendous potential as an economic force and economic power. Their location between South Korea and then Russia and China, right smack in the middle, is phenomenal. And we think they have a great chance for tremendous economic prosperity in the future. So I look forward to seeing Chairman Kim in Vietnam.
Today, I’m announcing several critical actions that my administration is taking to confront a problem that we have right here at home. We fight wars that are 6,000 miles away, wars that we should have never been in in many cases, but we don’t control our own border. So we are going to confront the national-security crisis on our southern border. And we are going to do it one way or the other.
We have to do it. Not because it was a campaign promise, which it is—was one of many, by the way, not my only one. We are rebuilding the military, our economy is thriving like never before—you look at other economies, they are doing terribly, and we’re doing phenomenally. The market is up tremendously today. Not that that’s anything, because I’ll go back in and they’ll say the market went back down. But the market is getting close to the new highs that we created. We have all the records. We have every record, but we are getting close to that point again where we’ll create new records. So our country is doing very well economically, and we have done a lot. But one of the things I said I have to do and I want to do is border security, because we have tremendous amounts of drugs flowing into our country, much of it coming from the southern border.
When you look and when you listen to politicians, in particular, certain Democrats, they say it all comes through the port of entry. It’s wrong. It’s wrong. It’s just a lie. It’s all a lie. They say walls don’t work. Walls work 100 percent. Whether it’s El Paso—I really was smiling because the other night I was in El Paso, we had a tremendous crowd, tremendous crowd, and I asked the people, many of whom were from El Paso, but they came from all over Texas, and I asked, them, I said, “Let me ask you as a crowd, when the wall went up, was it better?” You were there, some of you. It was not only better, it was like 100 percent better. You know what they did. But that’s only one example. There were so many examples. In El Paso, they have close to 2,000 murders right on the other side of the wall, and they have 23 murders. That’s a lot of murders, but it’s not close to 2,000 murders right on the other side of the wall in Mexico.
So everyone knows that walls work, and there are better examples than El Paso, frankly. You just take a look almost everywhere. Take a look at Israel. They are building another wall. Their wall is 99.9 percent effective, they told me. Ninety-nine point nine percent.
That is what it would be with us, too. The only weakness is they go to the wall and go around the wall. They go around the wall and in, okay, that’s what it is. It’s very simple. And a big majority of the big drugs, the big drug loads don’t go through ports of entry. They can’t go through ports of entry. You can’t take big loads because you have people, you have some very capable people, the border patrol, law enforcement looking. You can’t take human traffic, women and girls, you can’t take them through ports of entry. You can’t have them tied up in the back seat of a car or a truck or a van. They open the door, they look. If they can’t see three women with tape on their mouth or three women whose hands are tied. They go through areas where you have no wall. Everybody knows that. Nancy knows it. Chuck knows it. They all know it. It’s all a big lie. It’s a big con game. You don’t have to be very smart to know, you put up a barrier, the people come in and—that’s it, they can’t do anything, unless they walk left or right and they find an area where there is no barrier and they come into the United States. Welcome.
We have detained more people. Our border agents are doing such incredible work. Our military has been incredible. We put up barbed wire on top of certain old walls that were there. We fixed the wall, and we loaded it up with barbed wire. It is very successful. But our military has been fantastic, and I want to thank them. And it's very necessary. We’ve broken up two caravans that are on their way. They just are in—they’re in the process of breaking up. We have another one that we haven’t been able to break up yet.
We have been working with Mexico much better than ever before. I want to thank the president. I want to thank Mexico. They have their own problems. They have the largest number of murders that they have ever had in their history, almost 40,000 murders—40,000. They’ve got to straighten that out. I think they will. But I just want to thank the president, because he has been helping us with these monstrous caravans that have been coming up. We had one that was up to 15,000 people; it’s largely broken up. Others have gotten through. And in Tijuana, you have a lot of people staying. If we didn’t have the wall up and if we didn’t have the wall secured and strengthened, they would have walked right through. They would be welcome to the United States.
One of the things we saved a tremendous, just a tremendous amount on would be sending the military. Well—we don’t need the military. ’Cause we would have a wall. So I’m going to be signing a national emergency, and it’s been signed many times before. It’s been signed by other presidents, from 1977 or so, it gave the presidents the power. There has rarely been a problem. They sign it. Nobody cares. I guess they weren’t very exciting. They sign it for far less important things in some cases, in many cases. We are talking about an invasion of our country with drugs, with human traffickers, with all types of criminals and gangs.
We have some of the greatest people I know—they’ve been with me from the beginning of my campaign, almost from the first week—the angel moms. Unfortunately, we have new angel moms. One incredible woman who showed me her daughter who we’re talking about, killed in the year of ’18. I said, “I haven’t seen you before.” She said, “No, I’m new.” I said, “That’s too bad, it’s too bad, it’s so sad.” Stand up just for a second. Show how beautiful your girl was. Thank you.
I have such respect for these people. Angel moms, angel dads, angel families. I have great respect for these people. These are great people. These are great people. They’re fighting for their children that have been killed by people that were illegally in this country. And the press doesn’t cover them. They don’t want to, incredibly, and they’re not treated the way they should be. They are fighting for other people because they don’t want what happened to their children or husband or anybody—we have one young lady whose husband—please, stand up. Your husband was just killed in Maryland. Incredible man just killed. Beautiful children won’t be seeing their father again. These are brave people. These are people that—they don’t have to be here. They don’t have to be doing this. They are doing it for other people. So I just want to thank all of you for being here, okay, I really do. I want to thank you. Incredible people.
Last year, 70,000 Americans were killed at least—I think the number is ridiculously low—by drugs including meth and heroin and cocaine, fentanyl. Now one of the things that I did with President Xi in China when I met him in Argentina at a summit before I started talking about the trade—it was a trade meeting, it went very well. But before I talked about trade I talked about something more important. I said, “Listen, we have tremendous amounts of fentanyl coming into our country, kills tens of thousands of people, I think far more than anybody registers. And I’d love you to declare it a lethal drug and put it on your criminal list.” And their criminal list is much tougher than our criminal list. Their criminal list, a drug dealer gets a thing called the death penalty. Our criminal list a drug dealer gets a thing called—how about a fine.
And when I asked President Xi, I said, “You have a drug problem?” [He said,] “No, no, no.” I said, “You have 1.4 billion people, what do you mean you have no drug problem?” [He said,] “No, we don’t have a drug problem.” I said, “Why?” [He said,] “Death penalty. We give death penalty to people that sell drugs.” End of problem. What do we do? We set up blue-ribbon committees, lovely men and women. They sit around the table. They have lunch, they eat, they dine, and they waste a lot of time. So if we want to get smart, we can get smart. You can end the drug problem. You can end it a lot faster than you think.
So President Xi has agreed to put fentanyl on his list of deadly, deadly drugs. And it’s a criminal penalty and the penalty is death. So that’s frankly one of the things I’m most excited about in our trade deal. Want to know the truth, I think maybe there is no more important point.
We are going to make billions of dollars with this trade deal. It’s going to be great with this country and great for China, I hope. Their market is down close to 40 percent. Our market is way up. We have picked up since my election trillions of dollars of worth, trillions, many trillions. And China has lost trillions of dollars. But I want it to be good for China and I want it to be good for the United States. We’ll see what happens. China is coming here next week. They are coming home, the traders. And then China is coming here next week. I’ll be meeting with President Xi at some point after that to maybe have remaining deals. We’ll make them directly one-on-one ourselves. So.
So we’re going to be signing today, and registering, national emergency and it’s a great thing to do. Because we have an invasion of drugs, invasion of gangs, invasion of people and it’s unacceptable. And by signing the national emergency, something signed many times by other presidents, many, many times—President Obama, in fact—we may be using one of the national emergencies that he signed having to do with cartels, criminal cartels. It’s a very good emergency that he signed. And we’re going to use parts of it on our dealings on cartels. So that would be a second national emergency. But in that case it’s already in place. And what we really want to do is simple. It’s not like it is complicated. It’s very simple. We want to stop drugs from coming into our country. We want to stop criminals and gangs from coming into our country. Nobody has done the job that we have ever done. I mean nobody has done the job that we’ve done on the border.
And in a way, what I did by creating such a great economy—and if the opposing party got in, this economy would be down the tubes, you know, I hear a lot of people say, “Oh well, but maybe the previous administration … ”—let me tell you, the previous administration, it was heading south and it was going fast. We would have been down the tubes. The regulations were strangling our country, unnecessary regulations. By creating such a strong economy, you just look at your televisions and see what is going on today, it’s through the roof. What happens is more people want to come.
So we have far more people trying to get into our country today than probably we have ever had before and we have done an incredible job in stopping them, but it is a massive number of people. If we had the wall it would be very easy. We would make up for the cost of the wall just in the cost of the fact that I would be able to have fewer people. We wouldn’t need all of this incredible talent, some of whom are sitting in the first row. You wouldn’t need all of this incredible talent. We would get, we would get thousands of law-enforcement people including Border Patrol. You put them in different areas and you have them doing different things, law enforcement and Border Patrol. And I want to thank law enforcement and I want to thank Border Patrol and I want to thank ICE. ICE is abused by the press, and by the Democrats, by the way, we are going to be taking care of ICE. We talk about the new bill. We’re going to be taking care of ICE. They wanted to get rid of ICE. And the bill is just the opposite of that. A lot of good things happen.
So that’s the story. We want to have a safe country. I ran on a very simple slogan: Make America great again. If you are going to have drugs pouring across the border, if you are going to have human traffickers pouring across the border in areas where we have no protection, in areas where we don’t have a barrier, then—very hard to make America great again. But we have done a fantastic job, but we haven’t been given the equipment. We haven’t been given the walls.
And in the bill, by the way, they didn’t even fight us on most of the stuff—ports of entry. We have so much money we don’t know what to do with it. I don’t know what to do with all the money they are giving us. It’s crazy. The only place they don’t want to give us much money—$1.375 billion, it sounds like a lot, but it is not so much, although we are putting it to much better use than it used to be. A lot of the past administrations, they had, it was easy to get, they didn’t build. They didn’t do what they could have done. It would have been great. It would have been great to have done it earlier, but I was a little new to the job and a little new to the profession. And we had a little disappointment for the first year and a half, people that should have stepped up did not step up. They didn’t step up and they should have, it would have been easy. Not that easy, but it would have been a lot easier. But some people didn’t step up. But we are stepping up now.
So we have a chance of getting close to $8 billion; whether it is $8 billion or $2 billion or $1.5 billion, it’s gonna build a lot of wall. We’re getting it done. We are right now in construction with wall in some of the most important areas, and we have renovated a tremendous amount of wall making it just as good as new. That’s where a lot of the money has been spent, on renovation. In fact, we were restricted to renovating, which is okay. But we are going to run out of areas that we can renovate pretty soon, so, and we need new wall.
So I want to thank everybody for being here. I want to thank, in particular, the angel moms and dads for being here. Thank you very much. We have great respect for you. The real country, our real country, the people that really love our country, they love you. So I just want you to know that, I know how hard you fight and I know how hard a fight you’re having.
I also want to thank all of the law enforcement for the job you do. Believe me, our country loves you and they respect you greatly. And we are giving you a lot of surplus. We are giving you surplus military equipment, which a lot of people didn’t like giving previous to this administration, but hundreds of millions of dollars of surplus equipment. And as we get it, as you know, we send it down, and you have much better protection. But I really appreciate you being here.
So the order is signed, and I’ll sign the final papers as soon as I get into the Oval Office, and we will have a national emergency, and we will then be sued, and they will sue us in the Ninth Circuit, even though it shouldn’t be there, and we will possibly get a bad ruling and then we will get another bad ruling, and then we will end up in the Supreme Court, and hopefully we will get a fair shake and win in the Supreme Court, just like the ban—they sued us in the Ninth Circuit, and we lost, and then we lost in the appellate division, and then we went to the Supreme Court and we won.
And it was very interesting because yesterday they were talking about the ban, because we have a ban that is very helpful, Madam Secretary, is that right? Without the ban, we would have a bigger problem. We have a ban on certain areas, certain countries, depending on what’s going on in the world, and we won. But somebody said, “President Trump lost on the ban.” He was right. I lost at the lower court. He didn’t say that we ultimately won at the United States Supreme Court. They don’t want to say that, they didn’t want to go that far. They were saying how I lost, the person sitting right up here. “Donald Trump lost on the ban.” Yeah, I did, and then I lost a second time, and you should have said that, too. Then it went to the Supreme Court and I won. Didn’t want to take it that far. But we won on the ban and we won on other things too.
The probably easiest one to win is on declaring a national emergency, because we are declaring it for virtual invasion purposes—drugs, traffickers, and gangs. And one of the things, just to finish, we have removed thousands of MS-13 gang monsters, thousands. They are out of this country. We take them out by the thousands. And they are monsters. Okay. Do you have any questions?

Leaving New York City was a big decision for my fiancee (now wife) and I in 2015. And since moving to Colorado it's been challenging to find ourselves the same way we had in NYC. It's been a long four years with as many moves in that amount of time but I'm happy to says I (we've) found a place in Denver that feels right.
A small home, a Yoshi (2 year old Shiba Inu rescue) and my wife form the foundation of my happiness, for which I'm forever grateful.
In addition to those delight's, there are many restaurants like Sushi Den, Swing Thai, Peter's, Root Down, Spice Room, Rolling Pin Bakery, Creama, Lady Jane, Arada, City O' City and many more that make Denver feel like home. There are venues here offering alternative entertainment from comedy to poetry, places like Mercury Cafe to Swallow Hill to visit & to see young artist perform. Plus Denver's institutions such as The Denver Art Museum, Museum of Nature and Science and the Botanic Gardens make this an international city to rival any other of any size.
But above all it's the people, my wife and I are engaged with interesting people everywhere we go. I'd like to thank CBCA's leadership class for being an essential learning environment and the perfect place to meet the most amazing people in Denver.
This apron is a reflection of finding a place to fit in. The four color's used are the state color on the flag and representative of:
White = Snow
Yellow = Sunshine
Red = Red Soil
Blue = Clear Sky
For me they represent:
White = Opportunities
Yellow = Promise
Red = being in love
Blue = depth of
Of course I'm not the first or last artist who will depict a puzzle but for me the puzzle is the future, our interconnected lives and planet we all share. The fact is our fate is tie to each other. As individuals we can accomplish much for ourselves but together we can accomplish a better future for future generations (aka the impossible).
Although the idea of a puzzle apron had been roaming around in the back of my head for sometime it wasn't until I saw the Dior Show at the Denver Art Museum in conjunction with 40West presentation including Chris Weed's "Connected" that I decided to try this ambitious apron. Anytime there is a pattern or precision involved with my work things tend to be overwhelming for me. This apron took a lot of effort and I took it apart and put it back together again serval times. A labor of love to bring this piece into the world. It's not perfect but it's my best at this moment and that's all I need it to be.
This apron is the last one of 2018 which means it's I've completed 9 years of the 10 year goal to make one apron per month.

November 2018
The Democrats took control of the House of Representatives. This is a great achievement for the people who have been crossed by the 45th president and his administration. In the face of gerrymandering and despite the long polling lines, poorly (intentionally) equipped polling stations in predominantly black neighborhoods people made their voices heard. This was not the Blue Tsunami some had hoped for but don't discredit the victory of the House. This election brought a pink wave of women of Representatives in Congress. The people now have a check on the president, and in two more years the opportunity to change leadership will be here again.
The people also had great victories in Colorado where Jared Polis became the first openly gay governor. In Florida the people voted to give ex-felons who served thier time the opportunity to vote again 1.5 million people. Putin favorite congressman lost his seat in California, Rohrabacher, the 69-year-old chairman of the House subcommittee on Europe and Eurasia. There were seats flipped in serval States from Republicans to Democrats in key places where Trump in 2016 held large margins of victory like Virginia.
It is important to continue fighting against this administration and its lies but it is more important to keep moving forward with positive energy.
Ride the wave into 2020 the people will prevail and the time of the orange ball of hot gas will set.

October 2018
A leader who cannot except criticism is a weak leader.
Being October we expect a good scare, the kind in good fun where everyone goes home safe but this apron is about a different bone chilling event out of the Middle East. Journalist in this part of the world have always had a fine line to walk between the ruling class (weather it's a dictator, king or military leader) bias or the truth. Jamal Khashoggi was one of the truth tellers, dangerous business in Saudi Arabia where most human rights & privileges we take for granted in America are not recognize in that part of the world. Mr. Khashoggi was critical of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (aka MBS) leadership paying the highest price for it when MBS brought a hit squad of 15 men with a bone saw to Turkey to forever silence his voice as Mr. Khashoggi applied for a marriage certificate at the Saudi Embassy.
For Americans this is a difficult pill to swallow as Mr. Khashoggi lived in Georgia and wrote for the Washington Post. As Americans we want our alliances and business partners to share the same values as we have, freedom of speech, press etc. and the right to pursue happiness whatever that means to an individual. With each administration the degree in which we tolerate our strategic partners misbehaving's varies. Trump who is seemingly is in love with MSB and can't, won't, would never, consider losing a 110 billion dollar arms deal to Saudi Arabia over a murdered critical journalist take's our moral compass into uncharted territory. The surprising part for me is how many people are ok with it especially faith leaders like Pat Robertson who came out to support the idea a man's life is worth less than an arms deal, it's mind boggling. But here we are in the age of Trump and our moral compass is more hay wire then Captain Jack Sparrow's when he doesn't know what he wants.
I want this apron to remind us of two things. MBS stands for Mr. Bone Saw and be wary of any authoritarian rulers attempt to appear tolerant.
This apron is made out of a Stanley Saw, spray paint, rhinestone stickers, a button and ties donation by Justin Stearns.
ps. Rhinestone represent the cover up. Suadi Arabia eventually admitted to pre-meditated murder.

Guess how many straws are in the bottle?
The use of alternative facts and seductive story lines is an epidemic. On both sides of the fence, facts are confirmed or denied according to bias. It's a dangerous game to play with facts as previously explored in last months apron. This month we look at plastic straws and the overnight fever which the campaign #stopsucking sparked. It's hard for an environmentalist to resist the lure of 5 million plastic straws used daily end up in the ocean.
While it is true some straws end up in the ocean it is a trivial amount compared to the actual amount of plastic waste contributed to the world ocean by underdeveloped countries and their practices as well as commercial fishing gear. Most waste comes from India and China yet it is easier to do something locally then to contribute to those distressed systems.
(Yet this is exactly the problem we face, our willingness to tackle the problem is less than our willingness to treat a symptom)
While the plastic straws is on trail we overlooked the real crime occuring every day right in front of our eyes. I have long felt that honesty and fairness are on the out's. In my highschool steroids meant the difference between starting team and practice squad. The coaches never called drug users out or discipline them in any way, if fact the opposite was true, praising them for playing well. Today, we have Supreme Court Justices who take a seat without the same confirmation intregity as their precessors required shamelessly. A White House occupied by Russia influences and a gerrymandered Congress bend on servicing power. Today ethics are twisted if ethics existence at all. Nietzsche declared "God is dead". I'm declaring Ethics died when Trump took office.
In short. Cheating is rewarded with honors and privilege & justice is reserved for the wealthy.
And on the last day of the month Trump gave us one more reason to criticize his administration. After giving the rich a tax break he announced federal work should not get thier annual pay raise in 2019 due to budget restrictions. Obama wasn't perfect on this score card either but then again the country was in a recession when he took office and Republicans Tea Partist were looking to cut cost at every turn.
Happy Labor Day!!
The Answer: You'll never have the truth or the answer. Not unless this & next generation demand it. Change won't occur unless you demand it.
July 2018
Helsinki.
Trump Putin Summit.
Helsinki comes down to knowing the meaning of "n't". N'T is contraction of "Not", used with auxiliary verbs (e.g. can't, won't, didn't, and isn't). An auxiliary verb is a verb that adds functional or grammatical meaning to the clause in which it appears, such as to express tense, aspect, modality, voice, emphasis, etc. Auxiliary verbs usually accompany a main verb. The main verb provides the main semantic content of the clause.
Trump in Helsinki expressed his trust in Putin over American intelligence agencies. A day later read a statement correcting himself saying he meant to say.
"The sentence should have been, 'I don't see any reason why I wouldn't, or why it wouldn't be Russia'" instead of "why it would," Trump said.
In lying it's simple just say what you meant when you mean it and when opposition criticism come just claim you meant "n't" where it is convenient. This is dangerous ground and builds uncertainty around the truth and causes the lost of trustworthiness.
Trump is all in with Putin. And the talk around pee-pee tape seems to be the least likely reason for the alliance between the two leaders. It seems more likely a power play to rule Earth for the foreseeable future. If America, Russian and China all elect president's for life, with two out of three already in place, then essentially those three economic and military strengthens would form an
undefiable super power.
The problem isn't that such a massive super alliance would exist, rather it's the nature of their fascism style rule. Be clear of one thing, each of the three men biding for power believe they are above the law and anyone who falls short of there way of being is the enemy and enemy must be destroyed.
The danger of culminating so much power in the hands of a few has been proven throughout history. Looking at the folly of the Roman Empire or Monarchies of Europe we understand that more often then not a environment of abuse is created when power is held by too few.
The world should fear a power alliance between Putin, Trump and Jinping.
Three things that will happen if power doesn't change hands and become dispersed among a wider leadership pool. First, environmental conditions will continue to decline until only a few inhabitable area remain controlled by super wealthy. Second, vast amount of genocide will take hold across the globe focusing on the weakest populations (assuring like minded political alliances prevail). Third, the complete control of social behavior and the lost of free will.
Everyone outside of the top .01% will essentially be treated as servants or pets.
This is the threat earth population faces as a false vail of democracy replaces the true form of it. It is the goal of the three leaders to appear as the choice of the people and stand for a free and open society yet in practice they wish to rule as dictators. Trump had high praise for Kim Jong Un as his cabinet snaps to attention when Un enters the room. Trump also love the air around Saudi Arabia due to the complete lack of protesters as protest are forbidden. And of course Trump loves Putin and looks to him as the model of modern political leaders.
It's a shame. And it's done with intention, distraction and confusion, with small contractions like "n't" alienating our trust in ourselves and each other. Helsinki is a perfect example but other examples are present: Trump's vision of a space force equal to the army or navy is in the news yet Russia is claiming to have a dirty nuke deployable by submarine and Washington remains silent. Of Course today (July 27) the GDP numbers were released and it's a chance for a victory lap for the White House as the country pulled a 4.1% growth mark and again this is an empty number as it only reflects once time market opportunities. And if you bring up Trump's sins to a Trump supporter they almost always bring up Hillary or the democrats to change the subject or deflect blame.
This months apron is also touches on the fundamentals of education. Education is made up of two parts: Skill & Knowledge. First, skill the ability to create the stitch pattern and second the knowledge of how to thread a needle and the undrstanding/purpose of an apron.
In addition to education the apron also is representative of the two hemisphere of the brain. Left brain control's analytical thinking and Right brain control's creative thinking. All of the apron in this collection have some level of analytical thinking and creative thinking involved. As each apron is a time capsule the first step in my process is to analyze the world (internally & externally) to form the subject matter for the apron, then using creativity to complete it's form.

June 2018
The criminal nature of removing children from their parents at our nation's board can not be ingored or forgotten. This apron is the second created in the month of June for the purpose of severing as a reminder that we can not lose our values as a nation at the whim of a morally corrupt Administration.
#speakingtruthtopower.
Turning fashion statements into political statement is also aspect of this apron. As @hyperallergic points out of @flotus attire worn in route to the southern board... "Maybe we missed the real meaning of Melania Trump’s “I DON’T REALLY CARE, DO U?” jacket? The term, or the Italian version more specifically, “Me Ne Frego” (aka a vulgar term for ‘I don’t care’), was a fascist rallying cry." See Giovanni Tiso writings for details. A few fashion wise voices fired back with statements of their own with jackets reading "We do care! Y don't U". I responded with "Yes" (we do care).
Melania wasn't the only public face to come under public scrutiny as did U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen while dining at a Mexican restaurant Tuesday night in Washington, D.C.Protesters chanting "Shame!" disrupted her meal.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House press secretary and one of the president's most unscrupulous defenders was shown to the door by Stephanie Wilkinson, the owner of the Red Hen restaurant, who had asked press secretary Sanders to leave, told the media on Saturday that she is "not a huge fan of confrontation," adding, "I have a business, and I want the business to thrive." But as Wilkinson rightly noted, "This feels like the moment in our democracy when people have to make uncomfortable actions and decisions to uphold their morals." - CNN reports.
And for all the stories surrounding this heinous policy behind it all is Stephen Miller, (the mere thought of him invokes a Voldemort moment) the president's senior advisor on policy (and number one racist). Stephen Miller came up under Jeff Sessions (Sessions the equivalent of Sirius Black if we stick to Harry Potter reference's) Miller leaded a nation-state populism platform to discourage and ultimately end immigration under Session's and continued under Trump. Miller represents the worse of the Trump administration and unlike others ads has yet to find himself on Trump's badside that we know of...

This apron was the first apron designed and worn for the purpose of promoting the projects message and attracting support. Debuting at my first American for the Arts conference in Denver, CO I was unsure of what to expect and who I would meet but was hoping the apron would help me start conversations and spark curiosity. Please visit apronartist.com to learn more about the project, it's mission and how you can help.
#aftacon Saturday June 16th was full of surprises, learning opportunities and new pathways forward. I'm grateful for everyone who I had a chance to meet and have conversations with, for everyone who offered advice and direction for the project and for the words & works of inspiration received throughout the day. It was a day dedicated to the arts by the people who make art possible from emerging administrators to US Senators. They get little recognition day to day, going about their jobs without gratitude from the outside world, however, they deserve our thoughts, support and prestige for the work of making our lives better and connecting us as a people to one another.
Please support @Americans4Arts by becoming a member, donating to artsactionfund.org or attending next year's convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota. #savethenea

May 2018
It is with hard work and dedication America’s youth graduate this month. They deserve our attention and respect for achieving a milestone. Weather they excelled or scrapped theough to the end, they put forth thier best efforts and earn a diploma. Congratulations Classe of 2018.
However, the sad fact remains that too many of our nation’s youths will not get the opportunity. Children are gunned down in sport by the misguided actions of peers or the mentally ill’s misplaced blame.
May’s apron is black, like the gowns worn across the country with a red sash-like attachment representative of those that will never get the chance. “It is sad” unstates the reality of the lost to families, friends, collogues and the countless other possible connection & “might have been’s”.
These acts for most Americans will be forgotten about in the years to come. Remember only when some random piece of media trickles pass but for those directly involved everyday will hold a shock of rememberance. The same pitted emptyness that’s felt by the lost of love ones from any other untimely death. However, with children, it’s also the stabbing thoughts of “what could have been” followed by the anger (or hate) for what could have been done to prevent it.
It is my hope that the coming generation understands steps could have been taken. Step need to be taken to prevent events like Parkland, Sandy Hook and Columbine from happening again.
We should all be together moving towards this goal in millions of ways, everyday. The national conversation must be had at the dinner tables, in school, at town meeting, in the media and in our nation’s capital.
The shooting in Santa Fe, TX was for me particular difficult. The shooter target was a girl whom rebuffed his romantic advances however the victims were art students and a art teacher. This project only exists because of an art teacher’s work. Up until the shooting I was going to do an apron for the starving people in Venezuela or refugees in Syria, they too deserve our thoughts, support and actions.
I hope the new generation can and will put our collective good ahead of personal gain.

April 2018
Teachers walked out of schools across the country for higher pay under the banner of #redfored (especially Arizona). This apron supports the red themed slogan.
April’s apron also sets a marker on the side project of #apronsnotguns. After the Parkland shooting I began posting and sending designer handmade aprons to teachers via Instagram. This campaign will continue until teachers are paid and respected as well as professional athletes. April’s apron is a classic style handmade apron and is the example for the new side project.
Teachers need help. Future generations need our help. Now’s the time give and create a brighter world for all. Random acts of kindness will save the future.
Verity of Designers – Double Pocket Apron (April 2018)
Handmade Designer Apron Features:
Front of Apron: Organic Wool, Organic Heavy Cotton, Linen, Acrylic, Rayon, Polyester
Back of Apron: Polyester
Ties: Save the Children & UNICEF United Nation Children Fund
Size: Standard Unisex
Cleaning: Dry Clean only

March 2018
Among the many things happening. The school walkouts are the most fundamental change occuring at this time. Children have lead the way before to major changes and God willing will do so again to end gun violence or at the very least curb the pandemic plaguing our country.
Across the country students are asking lawmakers to review policy and make changes. Trump sat with students of the Florida shooting shortly after it occurred. However the NRA propaganda machine kicked into high gear as talks of restriction of gun ownership began. Trump after a brief moment of movement in the right direction quickly return to NRA script. Background checks and teachers carry guidelines are the bander reforms the NRA will allow the government to consider, anything else is a direct attack on our freedoms (in their view). Yet a single solution is not likely to end gun violence other then “no one can own a gun”, which will never happen nor should it.
From my point of view we must treat gun ownership less as a given right and more of a privilege like driving a car. With common sense rules and a bit over oversight to maintain a safe environment for our future generations. Here are few ideas for our society to consider.
1. Yes, Background checks are a good idea
2. Raise the age limit for purchasing for military style weapons.
3. Training and gun safe
4. Licensing & renewals
5. Banding bump stocks and large mags
6. Armed guards at schools (not teachers)
7. Close the loop hole for gun trade show
8. Hold firearms deals responsible for sale of firearms used in criminal acts.
9. Open more gun ranges, rent the guns instead of ownership.
10. Anyone found with a unauthorized firearms could face a capital punishment.
11. Red Flag Laws and extending them to concerned community members.
Guns habits and attitudes are only a starting point to route out gun violence. Shortly down the road we must address a crumbling school system painfully stuck in industrial age concepts.
Our future is a moving target and to aim on at a single point guarantees failure. Children must be given multiple learning experience in a verity of forms in order to obtain the flexibility, duribility, creativity and critical thinking the future requires. Of course the current corner stones of Math, Science, Language Arts will remain at the heart of future curriculum however the style, function and format which they are delivered must match more closely with individual students. And certainly mechanisms which identify “at risks” students must be enabled.
We can no longer be a one size fits all education system. With online, VR, AR and technology advancement we may no longer need a central school for our children rather a diversify collection of learning opportunities for our child to seek, create and thrive in.
Change does not occur overnight. Testing, data collection & analysis take time. The goals we are trying to achieve must also evolve from scores on test to a more robust scaling system in the area’s of data research, critical thinking and community awareness.
At the heart of our future is our children, regardless if individuals have children or not, future generations will shape the reality we live in and pass on. Our goals must be on point with the future we intend to be a part of. Now is a great moment for positive change and new prospective, small steps will equal big results. Thoughts and prayers are in our pass, our future is in our hands now. Be an active voice, vote and stand for what is right.
This apron is a testimony to what today’s teachers need – support, supplies, respect NOT guns. Our children need the Arts now more then ever to give them hope and the tools they need to think beyond gun violence.
February 2018
Nancy Pelosi took to the House floor for eight plus hours on Wednesday February 7th to provide an in-depth look at the reality young illegal immigrants face, deportation. Deportation to a foreign land for those who arrived here as children would be crushing. As American’s imagine coming here at age four, growing up in America, in the school system, build relationships and roots in the community, believing you belong and working towards your America dream. With that image in mind picture what it would have been like for you to be dropped in a country like…
Afghanistan
Bolivia
Central African Republic
Dominican Republic
Egypt
Fiji
Georgia
Hungary
Iraq
Jordan
Kazakhstan
Lebanon
Mexico
Nicaragua
Oman
Pakistan
Qatar
Rwanda
Somalia
Tajikistan
Uganda
Venezuela
Yemen
Zimbabwe
Or any other “shit hole” nation (as Trump might say) without any connections, money or direction in your late teens or early twenties…
What would you have done?
What would your life look like?
What do you know about the countries listed above?
How do you think they would treat you?
What hope would you have?
I believe all people deserve a chance to have a better life and equal opportunity.
The Statue of Liberty states: “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
This was promised to pass generations and should be promised to future generations.

Here is my solution to today’s partisan government and other issues facing our country.

Dear America,
Thank you for your time and consideration. There are as many problems in our country as there are stars in the night’s sky, therefore I would like to propose a solution that may address many of them directly. We all love this country. We wish to do our part, whether it is paying taxes, government service or volunteering through religious or non-profit organizations.
Today, we have a vast disconnect between our people and our government. People are polarized right and left or disengaged with feelings of irrelevance or unconcerned. This causes government to become dysfunctional due to partial representation creating policies reflexive of minority’s interest. There needs to be a fundamental change to our way of thinking about government and the society we wish to create and live in. Therefore, I’m proposing we have a serious conversation around the idea of “Civil Service” to rectify the misconceptions and fractured believes of our nation and take advantage of a greatly underutilized resource, our nation’s youth.
Defining a new Civil Service would include a path for all US citizens and non US citizens to participate in government through active participation or financial support. The basic idea is that all US citizens 18 years old or older commit to a minimum of two years of civil service in the areas of healthcare, urban rebuilding, forestry, immigration or special projects. Upon the 18th birthday of a US citizen, that person wishes to pursue college or an apprenticeship they may defer service, with a tax rate of 30%, until their 26th birthday at which time they can apply for a position in the field of their choice. If a US citizen by age 26 has a good career or outstanding income and wishes not to perform civil service, then their tax rate would be 45% until service is completed. Anyone who performs civil service for two years will have a tax rate of 35% and for those of us citizens who serve longer terms will have a lower tax rate reflecting their service. Any active military service personal will have a tax rate of 25% (for life) and for those military who served in battle would have a tax rate of 18% (for life) because they risked the most for our freedoms and liberties.
Civil Service achieves:
Thank you again for your time and deep consideration.

- High government participation for all future generations
- Simplifies the tax code (the first 10% of all revenue is social security)
- Offers pathway for our nation’s youth to explore new careers
- Obtains a greater sense of patriotism for all involved
- Reduces government spending and increases government productivity.
- Creates a path to citizenship (all immigrants would be required to complete no less than 4 years of service before becoming US citizens, also if an “illegal” was found working in the US without a criminal record they could be given the option to either serve or be deported)
Thank you again for your time and deep consideration.

December can & has always been used as a looking glass into both the pass and the future. As there was no single world event or personal epiphany to base this months apron on. (As to watch, listen or read the news the sky is falling. Personally, I agree with a few people sentiments that everything happening needs either to be protested or given a voice for conservation.) This apron draws from Instagram (an app allowing anyone to create postcard type imagines) for subject matter. In today’s modern world #hashtags act as directories on the web and particularly on Insta.
Instagram places images in chronological order giving us an unfiltered glimpse into human association’s of reality, prejudice, opinion, insight in the form of images, words, videos and memes.
The hashtags above are just the tip of the iceberg. December 2017 also included California’s largest wild fire, DACA dreamers programs in jeopardy, Yemen refugees desperation, NYC subway bomber, neo-nazi murdered girlfriends parents, #metoo named as Time person of the year, Puerto Rico recovery, Alabama special election, Moore’s failure, Mississippi opens new Civil Rights Museum marred by Trump’s appearance and protested by people whom marched against injustice during the Civil Rights movement, Daniel Shaver’s plea, black lives matter movement, gun friendly laws, marijuana legalization, Jackson’s magnolia, UN resolution, UN vetoed, Organization of Islamic Cooperation, YouTube star Juan Luis Laguna’s Rosales aka the Pirate of Culiacan murdered, SpaceX launch, Chile mudslide, Al Franken Resignation, Boarder Wall, ICE Agent’s, Bears Ears and Grand Staircase Escalate shrinking, stock markets approaching 25,000, bitcoin millionaire’s, unemployment rates drop, Putin thanks Trump, 2018 Blue Wave and more…
This list reminds me of Billy Joel’s We Didn’t Start The Fire. People speak of a Watershed periods but we have a flood with no end in sight.
This concludes the eighth year of the apron project. Over the next two years I’ll be actively seeking ways to make the goals of this project a reality, a cross country tour to support the arts in public schools and alternative learning solutions. Thank you for your continued support.

The flood gates open this month as women all across the country broke years if not decades of silence against wanted #sexual advances and derogatory male behavior. From the boardrooms to capital hill to media stars men who’s poor actions and #adolescent #behavior finally caught up with them.
And its high time for this day of #reckoning for those whom are guilty of these offenses. The #metoo movement displays the innumerable amount of women on the receiving end of #dispicable male advances. But the war is not over nor the end in sight, as long as men are attracted to women there will always be #unwanted luwd #behavior in some form. However the hope (at least from one male perspective) would be women will gain all the respect they deserve within #professionals and public settings. This conflict becomes more in trenched as Trump denies the Hot Mic Access #Hollywood tape and Roy Moore races for Alabama Senate seat under accusations #pedophilism.
This month apron is a #tribute to all #women who voice their #outrage, for the battle ahead and a reminder to never stop demanding #respect & equal rights.
I can not speak for all men (as most would disagree) but I do believe if women were given an equal #opportunity to govern at all levels of #society the world would have less #conflict and more understanding.

HATE
We live in disheartening times. The world is fraught is violence, fear, envy and hate. Constant gardening is required to trim the verge of hate from overrunning our lives, our family, our people and the world.
It can seem hopeless when world leaders rattle sabers for the sake of pride and nationalism or when individual’s act on their own using semi-automatic weapons to make their views understood. When KKK members, Neo-Nazis, White Nationalist and extreme hate groups attempt to dominant and suppress those around them whom would disagree.
Yet, these are only the symptoms of the metal illness plagueing our society. It is in the everyday activities, small gesture’s, resentments kept, ingorance and pain held within each of us that are the result of hateful acts. Each of us harbor ill will for others or ourselves, consciously or subconsciously. If you’ve ever uttered a negative word to yourself or act out in a moment of heated emotion, a trace of evil enterns our world. It happens over and over to the point where we can not recognize it, it becomes common.
Act of hate are easy and can make us feel good for a moment (much like candy) yet in the long term cause disease. If we are to combat our own nature it must be a conscious act. A daily commitment in our thoughts, words, and actions. There is choice, there is time, there is hope to root out hate. Our future depends on it if we are to leave a better world for the next generation then perhaps the one we inherited.
A suggestion. Have one kind thought per day about someone or thing that you wouldn’t have otherwise.
Example: if you’re cut off in traffic, instead of saying “that guy is a jerk” to yourself, others in the car, flipping them the bird or ramming them with you vehicle. Stop, breathe and say “he’s in a hurry, hope their house isn’t on fire and everything is ok”.
The example is a little absurd but illustrates the point. Hate becomes hate feeding destruction.
Will you do this?

August 2017
Dark vs Light.
Good vs Evil.
Self vs State (the collective)
Two events in August illuminate and exposed segments of our society; their members belief’s, intentions and willingness to act. The removal of a confederate civil war moument and a total solar eclipse reveal individual’s character and tightly held group belief’s. In stark contrast these events had completely opposite response by the general public. One unmasked hate and bigotry, the other conveyed people’s innate sense of wounder for nature and the cosmos.
Darkness.
Those whom wish to harm or hold ill-will towards other’s lurk in shadows. The events in West Virginia triggered hateful speech and hate crime. This exposure had a secondary effect exposing those whom go along with hate knowingly. If you where not appalled by KKK marching with Neo Nazis supported by Alt-right thinker’s, then your soul is twisted and you’re beyond help.
This country is the land of the free. Freedom from hate, not freedom to hate.
The stand against hate has to be universal from small individual acts to highly respected groups reacting after the president complacency. Here are two examples of definite acts.
“Robin Bell drove his van to Trump International Hotel and projected several slides on the facade of the president’s eponymous hotel that said in all capital letters, “The president of the United States is a known racist and a nazi sympathizer.”” – Perry Stein.
“In a letter announcing their resignation, several members of the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities (PCAH) called on him to step down as well if he can’t vocally denounce white supremacy.” – The Hill
The Light.
All Across America for weeks leading up to August 21st 2017 people made preparations and travel plans to see this cosmic drama played out. Schools and Science minded groups used this opportunity to inspire young generations to learn about a world great then themselves. The event’s popularity out performed expections selling out solar viewing glasses online and in stores and creative eclipse viewing boxes of all shapes and sizes blanketed the news and media feeds.
Visible as a partial eclipse from all 50 states and as a total eclipse from a 70-mile-wide sliver of 14 states. While total solar eclipses occur somewhere on Earth about every 18 months, it has been 38 years since the last total solar eclipse passed through the United States, and 99 years since the last coast-to-coast eclipse.
This months apron uses light to project the image of an apron on to those whom stand before it. If someone or something comes between the light and the surface it causes an eclipse effect. The apron itself is made out of house hold items like construction paper, duck tape, a rubber band and a used headlamp, kindred spirit to homemade viewers!

Sometimes we expect to walk through in a rose garden but even then there are thorns to make us weary. Be grateful not blind, the thistle flower is beautiful too.

10 things I’ve learned from Trump.
1. Promise everything to everyone.
2. Never give details.
3. Make the best deal for yourself.
4. Haft truths make the best lies.
5. Lie for others & have others lie for you.
6. Lie about your lies.
7. When accused of lieing, spread lies about your accusers.
8. 25% of people will believe lies at all times.
9. Always take credit, never take responsibility.
10. One way communication is key.
One of Trump’s most blatant lies claims: We are building a board wall and Mexico is paying for it.

There are walls and there are ladders. Some times you build something great, sometimes you need to get over an obstacle. Today, I am the latter.
In this apron I wondered if beautiful & meaning could co-exist, (two apposing forces in today’s art world).
I started this apron not knowing what it would be. The thought came to me late in the month of a wall & rope ladder. With so many alligations around the current POTUS and his entourage many important issues are over looked. The impact of his anti-illeages policy, (which is despicable), is a non-subject in the media, yesterday’s news. So I thought in time we would perhaps loop back to this at a later date to review it’s importance & impact.

Star Log April 2017
It’s impressive how easily we are distracted by classic tricks. In Rome they gave the mob bread and games. Today we have terrorist attacks and Sarin Gas Warfare to make us look away from misdeeds of those whom abuse power to increase personal wealth and status.
Early this month Russian Opposition Party held massive anti-corruption protests in 70 cities across Russia, two days later in St. Petersburg a bomb detonated in a metro station leaving 11 dead. A day after that Sarin Gas was used in Syria killing/injuring hundreds indiscriminately. The U.S. responsed with a missile attack on an air field in Syria, yet the next day the Syrian Government used the air field. The news media and conversation changed from anti-corruption to us involvement in Syria overnight.
If we solved anti-corruption issues we solve international confict and climate change. It seems every world leader is saber rattling at the moment. As if to prove they exist even if human existence is risked.
Nukes, bombs, nationalists fever, corruption, internet hacking, lies and false claims are world leader’s tools at this moment in time. A way to keep today’s mob under control and looking away while stealing earth’s natural bounty for themselves.
The apron is a bomb silhouette made from found material, the globe puzzle was purchased second hand in Carbondale, CO and the bone veribra from somewhere life and death met.

First triptych work of the project.
Trump is still the POTUS. And he still affects the lives of the US people in the most disturbing ways. This month the people pressed the intelligence community for answers on the Russian interference of the presidential election. We got some Clue’s as to just how far corruption spreads in this administration as FBI Director James Comey testifies, Flynn ask for immunity, Devin Nunes shares intel with The White House before disclosure to his own committee, Head of The DOJ recuse himself early this month due to lack of transparency, all this and more are pointing us to a independent investigation. But that will take time, maybe longer then we can afford.
Across the world there is corruption. Venezuela, United States, Russia, Romani, Colombia, Brazil all have hosted anti-corruption protest in one form or another. The Kremlin is fighting back in their own way. In Kiev, a former Russia Lawmaker was assassinated in daylight outside of his hotel. Also, Officials in Moscow say that Nikolai Gorokhov fell from the window while he was trying to move a bathtub. Gorokhov was about to testify against corruption in Russia on behalf of Sergei Magnitsky. The accident occurred less then 24 hours before he was to take the stand in a Russia court.
With all of this the people of Russia are not staying quiet as much as Putin would like them too. Russia has a history of dissension and can be found in art among other types of protest. Thirteen painters and one sculptor resigned from the Imperial Academy of Art, soon after they withdrew from the Academy in 1863. In 1870, they formed the “Society for Traveling Art Exhibitions,” and the painters became known as “Peredvizhniki” in English, they are known as “Wanderers” or “Travelers” or “Itinerants.” One wandered was Isaac Ilyich Levitan was a classical Russian landscape painter who advanced the genre of the “mood landscape.” As a tribute to his work one part of this month apron is a landscape (hopefully you ‘ll find the mood or tone to be somber). The silk hoop displayed here was my first attempt in this medium, the heavy dark paint is called “resist” as it prevents the watercolor like ink from cross it. the overall look is much like stain glass. Paying homage to Levitan was intended, I also heard as an act of protest painters would use only a speck of red paint to signal the degree in which government ideology is worth in nature and rural Russia. Within the silk hoop there’s a small crop of buildings with reddish windows… Today’s Russia has it’s own dissension, with artist, politicians, reporters, chess players and average people making up the “Other Russia” opposition. Putin is doing all he can to make their stories and them disappear.
The second part of this apron is the head statue of liberty with a America flag fan over her mouth, back by a red silk blend curtain, attached to a dowel, supported by wire. This is to convey the silence of liberty, the new iron curtain, an industrial America on the rise under the new POTUS.
The third part is an bear with a golden combover. The bear is not attached free to move about the apron. Symbolizing two corrupted leaders being one in the same.

February 2017
As H.R. 621 was proposed to sell off federal lands there was tremendous opposition to Utah Congressmen Jason Chaffetz proposal from both sides of the aisle. Hippies and Hunters agreed that federal lands are to be kept free for public use. This is the only example of Dem’s and Rep’s agreeing so far on one of the POTUS policy and regulations, negatively or positively.
It seems the only thing American’s can agree on is we love our open spaces and it’s the only place where we have a chance of finding common ground.
As high as 95% of American believe National Parks should be preserved. It seems parks and open spaces are part of the American identity like apple pie and baseball or even the American flag and democracy.
Much of the country is deeply divided, at least 60% are concerned about the countries direction and leadership. Trump’s approval rating is historically low and completely out of line of traditional trends. Hot topic’s have been turning out daily sparking political forrest fires on environmental issues (and every other type of issue). The country holds its breathe each day the administration holds office as nothing seems sacred. Only the pursuit of money and wealth guides this administrations policy.
February apron makes use of multiple designer fabrics and is composed to create depth leading the viewer from the bottom to the top of the apron. The path leading us towards the lake and into the mountains is a metaphor for the path we must take in order to keep our existence alive if we are to pass a future worth having onto the next generation.
The mountain is waiting….

Usually I would say happy hanging day, however there’s nothing happy about this day. Today we hang on to our understanding of what it means to live free by a thread.
If only the national endowment of the arts had been defunded it would be a sad day.
If only the national endowment of the humanities had been defunded it would be a sad day.
If only NPR and PBS had been defunded it would be a sad day.
If only the Planned Parenthood had been defunded it would be a sad day.
If only the EPA had been silenced it would be a sad day.
If only the bumblebee went on the endangered species list it would be a sad day.
If only the national parks had been silenced it would be a sad day.
If only the Affordable Care Act was being dismantled it would be a sad day.
If only dapl had been allowed to continue it would be a sad day.
If only one innocent person was being held for charges that can only come after being accused it would be a sad day.
If only the tax code was being overhaul to further advantage the wealthiest it would be a sad day.
If only the Muslim banned had been enacted it would be a sad day.
If only the the Department of Homeland Security defied the US federal courts it would a sad day.
If only sanctuary cities were defunded it would be a sad day.
If only Bannon had replaced US Generals as top security advisors to the president it would be a sad day.
If only the White House Press Secretary lied on one issue it would be a sad day.
If only we broke relationships with Mexico it would be a sad day.
If only we broke relationships with the United Nationals it would be a sad day.
If only a Texas Mosque had been burn it would be a sad day.
If only Russian lawmakers made it easier for domestic violence abuser’s to go unpunished it would be a sad day.
If only the regulator policies that protects our people were stripped it would be a sad day.
If only the super wealthy were given positions in government, i.e. Supreme Court and Cabinet appointments it would be a sad day.
If only forgien bribing of the office of United States Presidency was being covered up it would be a sad day.
However all of the above and more is currently taking place in the US right now.
These are dark times.
This apron is a black sash without ties and the deepseven signature is enclosed inside.
Hope remains in the resistance of Americans to take action at every injustice this new administration issues with each executive order and appointment. Resistance against each hateful individual act on both side of the fence. ACT as Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr would.
I suggest to Congress, US Courts and the people of the United States we impeach the current president and hold a emergency recall election. Burnie Sanders vs John McCain – 2017

We could have ended 2016 on many different topics; from the passing of icons George Michael, Carrie Fisher, her mother Debbie Reynolds or astronaut John Glenn to the hacking of the US elections by Russia. But regardless of what people choose to speak about the fact remained in the back of everyone’s mind was Trump is going to be President. This apron depicts the Trump Train leaving the station heading to the Red Planet. Many Americans wish he would lead an exploration to Mars as it would take at least 300 days one way, he can take the 1% with him too as far as I’m concerned. I’m guessing there is a less then 1% chance that he’ll go… More then likely he stay and the American people will have to do damage control over the next four years and make better decisions when the time comes to vote again.
Much of this apron was hand sewn using designer fabrics, replicated Hessian soldiers buttons, an old bracelet and it’s the first time during the project I changed the stitch length for lettering. Trump loves putting his name all over… WORST!
MAYBE we should all follow Mariah Carey’s lead going into the New Year!!!

As we say good-bye to President Barack Obama we have a opportunity to look back the last eight years of his presidency. He will be remembered for being the first the African American president and known for balling out the banking industry, ObamaCare, winning the Nobel Peace Prize and the president who ended Osama Bin Laden.
But if we want to see his character we only need to look at acts of communications he bestowed on 944 inmates, 324 serving life terms. To give you an understanding of how immense the impact is here are the numbers for the prior 3 presidents; George W. Bush – 11, Bill Clinton – 65 and George H.W. Bush 3, Total – 79 dating from 1989 to 2008. Giving people who’ve made mistakes second chances maybe the most noble act anyone with great power can do. This apron serves as a reminder of what Obama did for the people he served when in office.
The apron is made from a used sweat shirt, sharpies was used for the markings and a pack of Marlboro Reds (Obama’s Band).

Energy powers our live and we find ourselves in constant conflict on how, where, when we utilizes our resources. This month we had parallel examples of why heavy thought must go into designing our energy systems. The Standing Rock Sioux tribe historically protested the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) connecting production fields in North Dakota to refineries in Illinois. Juxtaposed with a pipeline leak that spilled an estimated 250,000 gallons of gasoline in Shelby County, Ala. putting Alabama and Georgia in a state of emergency.
Thank you Nancy, Bruce and Ari for the donation of silk flowers and other materials.

Only the unique is real.
If we stand alone or appear to ourselves as the only one how do we then find peace with the exterior?
How does the only bowtie in the entire collection be come apart of the collective?
This bowtie has a second monologue. It is used yet un-used. As a back up bowtie it was needed in case the first failed… We as individuals may share the purpose as this bowtie… I can only hope if this true for me I might be re-purposed where others have fulfilled the purpose I was un-needed for.

This is a very special Apron. The ties come from a custom apron made for Jonathan Blum years ago. He wears the apron while painting and uses it so often the ties needed to be replaced. It’s a joy to see a creation loved and a pleasure mending it. The black top piece was once used during a show at the Jack Light Gallery on E. 7th. street, NYC. The heart iron-on patch in it’s center was a test piece, learned from Osha (the love of my life ;). The yellow green pieces was also used as a blind fold during a CERT class for learning the skills of Search and Rescue. All around this apron holds many good memories.

Instead of doing as promised they make new promises.
And all we get in return is a trail of “I.owe.you’s” & “forget.me.knots”

Cecil of Zimbabwe.
Killed Late July 2015 for the glory of one man, dentist Walter James Palmer. Cecil was allegedly lured off park grounds, then shot and killed even when wearing a collar, denoting protection as a park resident. The collar was place in a near by tree after the hunting part severed the head. Cecil was shot with a bow and it’s hard to believe Palmer’s party didn’t spot the collar before shooting (what do they not have binoculars?), as a bow hunter you must get very close to the target before shooting… In my opinion he saw it and just didn’t care.
Cecil was a well know resident of the park and national attraction. So many lose as one is victorious.
There is nothing wrong with hunting for food, it’s in our nature. However in this day and age when so many animals have such little room left in the world can’t we as a people spare the few that are left. Illegal hunting is the lowest form human nature and use subpar weapons disgraceful. Anyone who act in this way should be hunted themselves by a superior race using butter knives and table spoons.

Learning how to do anything is possible. Retaining and repeating proves learning occurred. Osha Groetz taught me how to make and apply patterns for sewing last year. This was the first time a pattern was used to create an element for the apron project. A year later this is the proof.

Words, there are plenty of them. More every day. My didaskalos reminds me words mean less and less each day (because of the endless and increasing addition of words). Therefore it is only actions which holds meaning. The stamped letters falling into the sea, the two figures standing on the shore, on the horizon hopes & dreams.
ampersand = walking stick.
few words & many actions – the mantra.

Refugees have been in existence for as long as man has been able to settle lands. We continue to see refugees struggle from natural and man disasters including war.
Is it as part of the human story which compels us to continue creating life altering situations where those without defenses must flee for there lives?
If this is a natural cycle without end; I hope where ever people land there’s an apron waiting.

The month begins with a patriotic celebration and each day the news papers head lines read of war on a global scale, which we are a part of. As I read The Book Of The Ninja thoughts of higher understanding percolate with questions of how to act and govern ones self. Benevolence with correct courage coupled with righteousness, loyalty and fidelity.
where do we aim?

May open on a lower note in some respects as my shoes where falling apart I was in need of new pair turning my attention downwards. Initially, I was going to collect shoe laces and make an apron however recycling shoe lace is dirty an surprisingly difficult. Leading me to make a shoe and add my own laces. Shoe laces can server and hurt us and it’s only our awareness that decides which. To trip on your own laces is your own fault (exception being when others tie them together when you’re not looking, but really still your fault 😉 Tying them is too your benefit… just like everything else that is taken for granted and needs attention on a daily bases.

The eyes have it.
In February my thoughts centered around the meaning of this project. In discussing this self imposed endeavorer with others experienced in the art world, it was difficult to define what The Apron Project is about and if I’m to accomplish a nation wide tour to raise awareness and funds for art programs in school I’ll need to be able to articulate it’s meaning.
The staples of my existence revolve around the fitness profession and artistic ambitions. Growing up my two strongest subjects where gym and art class followed by math and history then falling off the charts in language classes. Looking back at my grades and interest levels in school, I can say that without art and gym class, I would have dropped out or at least been more trouble. One teacher I remember fondly was my six and seventh grade art teacher, she would draw me a set of eyes and I would finish the rest of the face or entire creature for extra credit. The beauty for me was in art there was rarely a cut and dry right or wrong rather the grade depend on the effort which was never rewarded without the correct answer in other subject. Gym was easy as I imagine language and math are to some people who know the answer as easy as it was for me to catch and throw a baseball. However it was Art that saved me in school and kept me honest if for no other reason then I wanted a chance to play with popsicle sticks, glue, paint, paster-a-pairs, clay and whatever else in Art class knowing I wasn’t going to get it wrong if I tried.
Now is like then, I teach fitness to others mostly because it’s easy and in my nature to do so. My play time is this Project as a homage and thanks for the one class that made a difference in my life as a direct result of good programing in pubic school.
I can not separate myself from the aprons.
These aprons are for everyone.
Your eyes especially – keep them up, more is coming.
The lower half of this apron is related to Fukushima, what appears to be perhaps owl eyes was intended to resemble two nuclear reactors. Japan is still dealing with this as the world watches and we all need think about how we generate, consume energy and the impact it has short and long term. Ruling out one source for anther is a mistake which we’ve made as humans in the pass, lets seek a balance approach starting with a self evaluation of our personal energy systems.

They forked us over health care.
The bent fork represents the care that is given by others.
Empowering others to help themselves.

Unable to feed him for three month his family was trying to devise a solution

A self portrait. Image of a giant on a scooter. Agents of the media covered the sounds for and against Citi Bikes arrival into New York City, to them I say welcome, ride with your hair blowing in the wind. The yellow and green fabric is hand dyed organic material, picked up at a framers market with the images inked on. The ribbons define the building and windows of New York, the technique used was a first for me. The ties have elephants and decorated packages on them; suiting for this months celebrations.

Hundreds of millions lies are portrayed before us each day. Most we never recognize few we give though too and a select ones creep in.
This apron is to remind me that the mirror is only a reflexion and lies are like shinny diamonds all around, to truly live one must close there eyes, go in side and move from there.

Welcome to the 2013. There were many stories correlating to the month of January however one stood out to me.
The Financial Cliff
Why this over Gun Control; Gun control is in need of a discussion however the Cliff was realized and took effect on many people and most feel this effect and understand very little about the how and why mostly because it requires a business and law degree to comprehend the extent of this policy. Guns can be regulated like Alcohol and it will never be prefect but it will be safer for the public. The liquid state of finance move at light speed with few player able to comprehend the extent of its effect, policy is never easy in this realm. One thing is true for both side of this argument, each trying to achieve the same ends but either is will to give an inch. It’s going to hurt us all when we hit bottom.
Enjoy the free fall. It’s all we have to enjoy about this ride.

This month always rushes by taking with it the marker of the years. It’s done joyfully, kicking and screaming with sugar cookies and heart breaks, at least it leaves us with hope of the new year.
Hope the double edge sword; too much all is lost, not enough nothing is found.
In this apron I looked for visual charm.

Two idea’s converge for our October apron the digital divide and the new business model. With so much talk around the presidential election covering subjects from 1A – ZZ and having returning from Europe where I spent a good deal of time speaking with college students and seeing protest aimed at the financial crisis, I thought this would be a good time to express my views. As you can see October’s apron is made from recycled wires, plugs and cables with a Auto-Pilot Navigation device tangled in its web. We know we are always changing for better or worst depends on your position. Technology is currently doing two things, first in the “real world” its going wireless, soon I’m guessing you won’t need a wire to charge your devices never mind connect to the world wide web and second its creating a new economy.
What does wireless mean? This could mean less jobs for pole climbers or more jobs for hardware manufactures. It could mean less materials are need to connect more people or brain cancer for heavy users. It could mean a freer life style by allowing the users to be anywhere or it could mean peoples eye sight and posture will suffer from over use.
What does “The new economy” mean? It could mean our manufacturing jobs are going over seas or new products made in america are being sold and shipped over seas. It could mean hundred of thousand new applications making our lives easier or hundred or thousand new applications making our lives harder. It could mean your job at the post office is threatened by email or your new job is done via video conference. It could mean that job you thought was going to last until you retired is not going to make it until the end of the week or now you have so much work that you need to hire and train twenty new employees to keep up with demand.
Either way you look at this positively or negatively change is here. Like the printing press the internet changed everything. Like the car over took the horse the new world is now. If you are on the down side and feel that the economy bad please do yourself (and others) a favor and get up to speed on technology and find away to use it to your advantage, education and self reliance are key. If you are on the up side of technology don’t forget we are HUMAN and nature still governs our world, stay in touch with your wild side.
It’s a messy business change but worth the trouble. Six billion plus marching into the future… together or apart?

Two entities occupy the same space. For me personally August was a bitter sweet month feeling elated in one moment and crushed the next, victory and defeat. The apron has taken the brunt of this energy as I attempted to manifest two different thoughts in the same space.
First, dandelions. Flowers are typically well received however in the case of the dandelions some would call it a pesky weed. There are three shoots coming from the foreground rising up in different directions intersecting with each other, the heads in different stages of bloom.
Second, as a headline read at the beginning of the month “Brooklyn Church Steeples Removed After Deadly Scaffold Collapse”. NY1 has the article and video of event. However horrible the reality is something inside me sees into the crumbing stone on a brooklyn sidewalk as more. It’s a freak accident or a sign from god, faulty/perfect timing, wrath/mercy . On the apron a gray piece of material (the church) covers some of a scene life from perhaps the golden times of church rule with a cross laid at the base. The cross is at a angle with the head still higher then the base, hope/despair?
This apron is finished and unfinished. This text is incomplete, try to finish the solve the meaning for yourself.

July 2012
When you look at this apron, you’ll have too look past the glare of it’s external shell made of clear packing tape to see Olympic rings as they maybe found in nights sky above Xenophon. Same as the podium which champions and liars have stood the first panel in center with second and third rapping the hips however no bronzes, silver or gold is used – just a card board heart. Above center a fourth panel of paint, card board and q-tips. Below center the fifth and six panels matching in size, framed with duck tape. The fifth panel is colored red inscribed with a "U" and the sixth panel colored blue with an "S". Together they could be a patriotic or something more as I didn’t intend to position the panels in this way. Strung and bound by wire and zip strips July 2012 apron lacks textiles outside of the ties of course, wink wink, toped with a B.O.M. hat from the Vermont mudder an accessory/exclamation point.

The best parts about this apron are unseen.
June is typically a self-portrait, being my birthday month, 2012 is no exception. Making this apron with a greater emphases on subject matter regarding personal interest. Did anyone see The Avengers, snap that movie was hot! I’m thinking I could be the Hulk! Comic book bubble captioning frames this apron as it jagged edges suggest. Also the word wham is used to describe sound, an important element since you couldn't smell May’s apron I want to make noise with this one. Although for wanting to make a loud impression I’ve disguised the lettering with more or less a kaleidoscope patten using 4 different prints. At the beginning of the month I just wanted to take four pieces of material an make them merge in center like a pizza, I came close but will admit that this was not perfect execution.

May 2012
3 Burlap Coffee Sacks
2 Black Buttons
1 Orange Zipper
Black Tread
Wool Yarn
Hand full of Coffee Beans
On May 1st protest organizers called for a May Day retaking of Zuccotti Park effort which fizzled and flopped the next day “The Scream” painting by Edvard Munch sold for $119,922,500.00 at a New York City auction.
Perhaps this is why the apron only took two full days to make, if ever a apron could have made its self, this was the one. In my scream there are 3 key elements, first the figure screaming, second is diagonal lines and third is the a colorful sky. The figure head uses burlap, buttons and the zip to make the face, beans can be found in between it’s layers. The body seams to lean against the diagonal lines either being lazy or taken back with the arms at its sides as opposed to hands at the face like the original. Last the sky is stretched across the top with yarn.
The best part about my 2012 May apron is the smell, I got the burlap bags at a coffee house in the east village and they’ve been used over and over again saturating the material with the beans aroma.

April 2012
Yes, I’ve been away. The aprons and calendars have continued as the journal entries were put on pause. Now thanks to the support of good people its time for me to continue sharing the works as they come to be, please accept this blog as sign of my appreciation. As I have shown consistence production making one apron a month since January 2010 it is my goal to match the apron with a blog entry each month. There is a little tradition i’ve started called “Happy Hanging Day” on this day, I remove the past month's apron from Marge and replace it with the most recently creation. For me, it’s a day of celebration and reflection, may it be the same for you.
First apron up is April 2012. Layers make this apron special starting with bees in the back ground. The bees are printed on cotton, same fabric used in May 2010, now representing the great weather we had and the buzz of life in Prospect Park, Brooklyn NY. The tree at in center can be found by the horse paddock in Prospect Park. I took the pine tree image and applied it to the cotton using ink, mixing the colors as I when with a fast stroke. The figure below the tree is a tribute to Trayvon Martin done with just red ink on blue felt, a reflection in a body of water with red, green, and yellow buttons lining the banks representing wild flowers as tribute to life. The Sheep in the low foreground are in direct relation to Mr. Martin, one of them is looking at you, the viewer, the other is losing track of it’s shepherd or looking to the rams head above also in felt, black and white, a nod to Rodin. The next felt figure we find in the apron is the blue wolf a shadow figure suggesting danger or calling. Finally, the last two figures entering and leaving the aprons boundaries suggest a changing of the guards with respect to civil dogma, the business person enters as the historically centered shepherd leaves with the golden crown hanging from his staff. The last detail worth noting is the small blue and purple buttons with string, I was attempting to create a lilac branch but time ran out…
I hope you enjoy the picture. They are a little mixed up as I’m perfecting my blog skill on the fly. Until next month, be strong.
